Getting to Know your Beagle
Getting
to know your dog starts by getting to know its breed. At
Kingdom of Pets,
we keep
a large database of detailed
information on
the appearance, personality,
and health requirements of individual dog breeds. Here's what you need to know about
the Beagle:
The
Beagle is a breed that
ranks as
one of
the top choices for families. These dogs are extremely loyal, charming,
and very sweet. Although great
with people,
the Beagle has an amazing sense of smell, which
can make leash training
a bit of
a challenge. However, with
patience and determination, you
can help your dog overcome
this behavior. The Beagle falls within the Scent Hound and Hound group of dogs, which
is recognized by the American Kennel Club.
This particular breed is an excellent companion dog and one great with
children and other pets.
Physical Appearance
The
average weight for a beagle is between 15 and 28 pounds with
height around 13 to 16
inches. With proper care, the Beagle can
live up to 14 years of age. The body of this breed
tends to be compact with floppy ears, gentle expression, and smooth,
short hair. Although a strong
dog, the Beagle is not an
overly muscled breed. The
colors recognized by the American Kennel Club include the following:
* Tri-color
* Lemon and White
* Orange and White
Temperament and Personality
Because the Beagle is such a docile breed, they
work well in just about any situation. The only thing to remember is that the Beagle should be well socialized to avoid problems with timidity. However, if you want a great family dog, this breed is superior. You
will find the Beagle to be highly intelligent although when it comes to training, they can be a bit on the stubborn side.
This breed is generally a pack animal, which means they can have tendency toward separation
anxiety. While you
could certainly own one Beagle with or without another dog, they are usually more content with a furry friend. Sadly, many people associate the Beagle with howling and although some do, not all dogs of this breed are vocal.
Funny, loving, gentle, and enjoyable are all words that describe the Beagle. Even with their stubbornness while walking, this particular breed is rarely known to
become angered. The smaller size, temperament, and personality are just a few reasons more and more
families are choosing a Beagle.
Health
For the most part, Beagles have few problems although there are a few things you want to be aware of before choosing this breed.
As you will notice by the appearance, the Beagle has long, floppy ears. While beneficial, the ears can also stop
air from getting into the ear canals, which can create minor problems. Typically, wiping the
inside of the ears out a few times a week will
prevent the buildup of dirt.
Another relatively common problem is with ingrown eyelashes, something known as Distichiasis, which would require a
quick trip to the veterinarian. You also want to watch the weight of your Beagle in that these dogs love to eat. Unfortunately, too much weight can cause serious problems with joints, specifically Hip Dysplasia.
Other potential problems although not as common include Congenital Heart Disease, Polyarthristis, which is a condition by which the immune system actually attacks the dogs joints, and epilepsy and seizures.

School Weblogs - Why Blogging Benefits Schools - Part 1 of 2
Weblogs or blogs
as they are known are here
to stay.
They will evolve
as time goes on but communicating online via blogs whether through text, video or
podcast audio, is something
that is going to
be a part of
the internet
for some time. Schools today
can benefit greatly
by providing their
students with a school-sponsored weblog
as a
means to communicate with their teachers
and other
students in their school. In
the same
way that many blogs have virtual
communities formed around them, schools can create and foster a community environment that provides a beneficial
learning environment for kids today rather than just a place they have to
go everyday.
School Policies & Contact Information
In
the news today we see many schools enacting policies and practices to help them
run better and
provide a positive learning environment for all
children. One area for example has to do with what is or is not acceptable in regards to the clothing allowed
at the school. Schools that use a weblog would
be able to have all their policies listed in one easily accessible location for parents to review. Regarding a school dress code policy, the school would be able to post actual images of the type of clothing that is not allowed on campus
so parents would be able to have a clear idea of what clothing is acceptable when they go to school. Other policies
such as grade requirements for playing sports or participating in school sponsored
clubs as well as the school disciplinary policies for things such as
fighting, bullying, being late or failing to complete homework assignments can also be posted on the school weblog. Contact
information can also be provided for parents with questions or concerns regarding a policy.
School Events and Sports
Schools utilizing a blog can use
it as a way to boost school spirit and participation by placing video clips of sporting events such as basketball, football or soccer games, track and field events. Other events such as science fairs, dance recitals,
awards and
more all can be promoted on the weblog as well. Through
promoting the school clubs and teams this way other students can
find out what is going on in the school as well. Promoting the school activities like this is also a
great way to attract perspective students and their parents who have recently moved or are going to move into the area.
Additional
Class Instruction
School
weblogs can be a great place and informational resource where students can go for additional help with their school assignments. Many times teachers do not have enough time to devote to each student to answer each and every
question. Through a blog setup by the school, teachers can post amplifying information on topics that they cover in class,
further explanations, and more examples - things that they do not have time to cover in class. Students can then
look over this additional information to help them when they are working on their homework. Every
person learns differently, and by explaining information in different forms, either with diagrams, words, or other means the idea can be conveyed so that the student can grasp it.
The school blog can also provide links to other
valuable educational resources that can be used. Teachers that find a good informative video to watch, website to read or podcast to listen to that covers a topic can place a link on the blog page and students can then access the information to assist them in their assignments.
Utilizing a chat room feature, schools using weblogs would provide a way for students and teachers to discuss problems that come up when working on homework assignments. Some students have anxiety over asking questions in class, so by providing a way that they can ask teachers questions outside of the class can help them overcome problems they may be having. An online chat feature would also be a way that students can form study groups to work on assignments.
While the use of weblogs in school can provide students with a valuable educational resource they can also provide them with other information to help them with the day to day problems they may face. Read Part 2 for more on how weblogs can provide valuable resources for students, teachers and parents as well as some of the privacy and security concerns that will arise.

Sterling Silver Money Clips
Its always harder
to shop for gifts for men than for women because although they have fewer accessories
to choose from, they tend
to be more picky than women
especially when they have an image to maintain. If youre looking for
the perfect gift
that your man
wont feel ashamed of using, stay away from risky
clothes and jewelries and start visiting accessory boutiques to look for
the best sterling
silver money clip you can find.
Why Sterling Silver?
Sterling
silver unlike other types of silver wont get rusty even when its exposed to water and other
elements. As such, your man wont have to worry about
getting his sterling silver
money clip ruined when theres a sudden downpour.
Sterling silver is
also considered a classy
material especially when compared to materials like
leather. It is also more durable and it definitely wont break or
bend easily when pressure and force are exerted.
Money Clips
vs. Wallets
Although there are more styles, colors, and designs to choose from when
shopping for wallets, there are also more disadvantages to be found
if you choose to purchase a wallet instead of a money
clip for your man.
Firstly, wallets usually create a noticeable
bulge in
the pocket
which effectively reduces the sexiness of the person. If you
want your man to look good,
hell be
better off with a slim and compact sterling silver money clip.
Secondly, theres
no turning back
time when your wallets become victims of
wear and tear. Old leather will always be old leather. Immortality on the other hand is granted to sterling silver money clips. All you have to do is polish
them regularly with the right cleaning tools and youll have a brand
new looking money clip all the time!
Thirdly, moneys more accessible when using a money clip. All you have to do is pull off the exact kind and
number of paper
bills you need and payment is instantly made.
Fourthly, money clips are especially advantageous to men who love playing the field. Instead of
having to changing photos in their wallets all the time to avoid hurting their current flavor of the month, no evidence can be
garnered against them when theyre using money clips. Its just money after all!
One major concern of yours should be that you are actually getting the right kind of metal, and that the money clip is indeed made of sterling silver, it is never too difficult to find someone who understands something about silver and get them to the shop with
you. It is also advisable that you think about the person you are getting this for, ideally the money clip should be fitted to their habits and needs, if you will observe the person you will know what kind of money clip will suit him best.
Money clips are a perfect gift for
men, Roy Ditelezieg writes about jewelry and mens accessories, read great advice on shopping for Sterling Silver Money Clip at the money clip site

Let's Make Some Money With Google Adwords
Google adwords concept
is easy. You
create ads that Google shows alongside
a keyword search. You give Google keywords that
you want
to be
associated with
your product. For example, you
sell Disney T-shirts, you might want
your ad to show
up when people do
a search
for Disney. Weve all seen these ads that appear
to the right of
a google search, called sponsored links. These
are paid advertisements.
When you create an adwords ad you chose keywords for
which your ad will appear
and specify the
maximum amount youre willing
to pay for each click. You only pay when someone clicks on
your ad
and visits your website.
Now that you
know adwords is and excellent way to bring in revenue you need to determine how much you are willing to pay
per click
(PPC). You can figure
this using the following simple formula: Divide your monthly visitors by your monthly sales, then convert that
into a percentage by multiplying by 100. Say in a month you get 2000 visitors and
sell 500
products each with a gross
profit of
$50.00. Your conversion ratio
would be 2.5%. This means that 2.5% of
every 100 people buy your product. Calculate your gross profit for every 100 visitors,
50 X 2.5%=$125.00. In this example you could afford to pay up to $1.25 for a visitor. This is a high amount and you would
never have to pay that much.
Your keyword selection is the
most important element when using adwords. These are the words when searched for will trigger the appearance of your ad in the search results. Choose these words while thinking what you would search for
if you wanted a certain product. Use different spelling variations and plurals of your keywords to get the best results.
When creating your ad use good key words that are attention grabbing, such as free, new, tips and
sale. Also explain the advantages of your product. Always have your exact keywords in the title. Use phrases like click here or visit this site to get your buyer to go to your website.
Keep a close eye on your budget, or you will get into trouble. When you have chosen your keywords and maximum cost per click, Google will suggest an amount for your daily budget. Adwords automatically tracks clicks,
impressions and click through rates when your ad is up and running.
Adwords can be a fantastic source for new customers at a
very low price. Research adwords and you will have a never ending flow of traffic to your website.

The History Of Shih Tzu Is Steeped In Mystery And Legends
I understand that Apso means dog, but
could also
mean goat-like or shaggy
in the Tibetan language. To
the Tibetan people it
was used to mean Temple Dog. In that connection it became known as Lion Dog.
All these meanings were
a long time ago. It seems
I read repeatedly that
many people understand
and agree it
was about 1650 that three temple dogs, holy dogs (they called them), were
sent to China and that from these three came
the Shih Tzu. It seems there
are many (from what I read) who are in agreement that about 100 years later,
the temple dogs
had been
the sole property
of the Dalai Lama. Some
of these dogs were given away to distinguished Russian visitors, and were stolen before they reached the border along
with several many more that disappeared from Dalai Lamas monastery during a civil
upheaval and
then reappeared in various parts of the country. According to the historians this was the end of the Temple or Lion Dog, the Apso. From then on, all sorts of small dogs that looked vaguely
like the Apso of old became known as Apso.
This is told as being the beginning of the Monastery dog and also the caravan dog.
Whether or not the present day Apso or the Shih Tzu can be regarded as pure representatives of the historic Tibetan Holy Dogs, they are clearly historically related, the Apso that developed along Tibetan lines and the Shih Tzu because of climate, environment and human planning became essentially Chinese. I think I can understand this much of some of the mystery surroundings the development of Shih Tzu. And I do believe this much
is absolutely true. Although the Apso and the Shih Tzu are closely related in their
distant past,
for centuries the two breeds have developed along totally different
lines. The Apso remained in the remote vastness of Tibet where it could adapt to the climate without difficulty. And the Shih Tzu was taken eastward to share in the life of
luxury at the Chinese Court.
The Shih Tzu was brought directly from
Peking to Scandinavia and was classified as a Toy,
which was probably a correct interpretation of the Chinese ideal. The introduction of the Pekingese strain was also probably designed to
help make the
larger mountain watchdog (the Apso) more suitable for the
Imperial Palace. All of this part of the Shih Tzus unique heritage of which
none of us should be ashamed.
Of note here, I would like to emphasize, this
is an article regarding the history of
our Shih Tzu. This article
is by no means an advocate for anyone to interbreed the Shih Tzu with
any other breed for any reason. The American Shih Tzu Clubs Code of Ethics clearly states that the crossbreeding of the Shih Tzu to any other breed is strictly prohibited and not at all acceptable.
